Consecutive translations

In this case, the translator starts the translation after the end of the speech or after part of the speech. What is interesting, the translator is not located in a different room, but is standing next to a person giving a speech and is making notes and memorizes what the speaker has to say. At the end of the speech or during a break in communication, the task of the translator is to convey the entire statement into target language in such a way as if  it was extremely important content.

This translations type differs from more common type of liaison translations, in the amount of content that is bigger. Consecutive translations are mainly characterized by long speeches sometimes lasting up to several minutes. For many people this kind of translation is tedious and too unattractive. Not many people focus on real speech, they wait for translator's communicate in a few minutes. Always in this case, translator's speeches are slightly shorter, because the translator tries to include only key elements and bring the quintessence of the expression. To remember the speech in the best way, translators try to use their notes that are taken during the speech. Repeatedly they use special system of signs and symbols that represent key words. It is not about jotting down the words, but important information that will help to reproduce thoughts of the speaker.

This type of speeches is mostly common during official meetings and lectures of politicians. In case when the meeting is not that official, the liaison method is practiced, which is more interesting for the audience. Shorter breaks in  translation allow more to focus on statements and seem to be more attractive for all parties.
